Bible Verses About Anxiety

Welcome to the anxiety Bible.

There is no better way to transform our thoughts and attitudes than by meditating on scripture. We are now adding verses selected for their ability to help anxiety. Before long, we hope to have them available in your favorite version.

6 Ways Scripture Changes Our Thoughts

  1. Meditation on scripture will train our brain to focus deeply.

  2. Scripture is alive. When we allow it in our minds, it exposes and renews us.

  3. It gives us hope. We learn that God is large and loving; He is interested and involved.

  4. We become convinced of our security and significance in the Lord.

  5. We fortify our faith and become equipped to cope with uncertainty.

  6. The truth will replace lies (cognitive distortions) and become our new automatic thoughts.

How to RENEW your mind

Research

  • What do you need to know? Explore and discover your problem thoughts.

  • Is it a problem with productivity, perfectionism, anger, certainty, guilt, responsibility?

  • Ask God to show you. Psalm 139:23-24.

  • Find a solution in scripture. This site contains scripture vetted and curated for anxiety.

Engage our attention

  • Invest some deeply focused (undistracted) meditation and prayer on a scriptural solution.

  • Be still and quiet. Concentrate on the solution.

Nail it down

  • Engage the creative side of your brain. Draw, write, sing, blog, journal, paint, scrapbook it.

  • Invest some significant time and effort doing this. Bone deep helps better than skin deep.

Engage it often

  • Repeat it throughout the day. Carry 3x5 cards. Photo. Email it to yourself. Text yourself.

  • Set alarms or schedule reminders to help you revisit.

Work it

  • Explain it, re-write it, get it simple, post it online, or teach it.

  • Don’t buy that you get it.

  • You get it when you can explain to your grandmother or a 6-year-old child.

  • Keep repeating this for a month and move to problem #2.
